What, where and when:

On 5–7 October 2022, the 8th WG & 6th MC Meetings of COST Action CA17124 will take place in Naples (Italy) .


Description

Eight Working Group Meeting and MC4. During this activity, the eight Working Group Meeting and the four Management Committee will be held. The working groups leaders will present the current status of each working group. During the first morning the Working Groups 1-5 will work in parallel in their particular goals. During the afternoon and the second day, we will plan sequential meeting from WG1 to WG8, in which the result of the parallel sessions will be presented and the new goals will be discussed. During the third day different talks will be given introducing the last advances and collaborations among the participants in the Action. Moreover, new synergies will be created among the participants of the Action. MC4 will be held during the fourth day, following the official agenda. The attendees will presents the results obtained from the application of mathematical, AI and AR tools to different synthetic datasets and selected challenges. Diverse synergies will be created among the participants of the Action in order to consider and solve the proposed problems and datasets.


Outputs

Present the last advances in the Action. Assess the current status of the Action and the fulfill of the goals of the Action. Study and propose to the Action of the activities to be done before the end of GP4. Approve the required decisions.


Grant Period Goal(s) it will address

O1. Raise awareness among researchers in AI and Automated Reasoning of the main issues and problems in the daily work of digital forensics scientists and the technical, legal and criminological aspects they involve. O2. Identify a list of realistically applicable AI and Automated Reasoning techniques, focusing on Computational Logic for verifiability and justifiability reasons (essential in a legal environment). O3. Promote R&D activities for integrating such techniques and defining new methods and tools. O4. Foster and coordinate related R&D activities of the partners. O5. Collect and organise anonymised data extracted from real cases provided by the Digital Forensics Action partners, and devise suitable benchmarks concerning the solution of such cases. O6. Put into practice the new methods developed in the Action on the collected data, thus providing a foundation for future practical tools. O7. Increase awareness among Digital Forensics experts of new methods and techniques and their applicability. O8. Assist Digital Forensics experts in the practical experimentation of the new methods. O9. Disseminate the Action results to stakeholders, not only Government Agencies and Institutions but also private companies working in the Digital Forensics field. O10. Implement training schemes for the parties that are potentially involved. CH. Create a network to explore the potential of the application of Mathematics, Artificial Intelligence and Automated Reasoning to Digital Forensics, and to establish synergies between these fields through the development of new theoretical frameworks, methodologies and tools to support Law Enforcement by evidence analysis and problem solving during digital investigations.

Abstract Workshop DigForASP:

It is open the Call for Abstracts for the Abstract Workshop DigForASP, which will be held in Naples.

The abstracts must be send through the link: https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=wgm8digforasp2022

The accepted papers to the DigForASP Workshop organized in ESCIM2022 and the best submitted abstracts will have the opportunity of submitting extended versions of their contributions to the Special Issue DigForASP at  Forensic Science International: Digital Investigation (https://www.journals.elsevier.com/forensic-science-international-digital-investigation). This journal has an impact factor of 1.805 in the Journal Citation Report (JCR) and we expect this impact will increase in future revisions. The submission will be reviewed once they will be submitted. 

  • Submission of abstracts: August 2nd,2022.
  • Notification of acceptance: August 5th, 2022.
  • Camera ready copies due: September 9th, 2022.
  • Conference: October 2nd-5th, 2022.
